National Art Museum of Sport
The National Art Museum of Sport was founded in 1959 by Germain G. Glidden, an artist and sportsman. It has over 800 works of painting and sculpture related to more than 40 sports.[1] The museum has been located at the University Place Conference Center at the Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis campus in Indianapolis, Indiana since 1994.
History
Glidden began forming the museum in 1959 with its first location opening in 1968 at Madison Square Garden. The museum then moved around the county, stopping at the University of New Haven in 1979, Indianapolis in 1990 and settling at IUPUI in 1994.[2]
